CHICAGO
October 22,
1918.

Dear friend and fellow-worker:

Now that the excitement is over and reports have been tabulated, it gives me great pleasure to announce to you that the 19th Ward has "gone over the Top."

Our quota, as you know, was $500,000.00 and it will interest you to learn that we have reported $584,850.00 with hopes of rounding up a few thousand additional.

I feel that it is through the earnest devotion and [full-hearted] support of our volunteers who have so generously given of their time and labor that our ward has been able to make this remarkable showing.

You have not only rendered valuable services to our Country, but you have demonstrated your local pride, and as your Chairman I highly appreciate your sacrificing spirit.

With sincerest appreciation for the kindness you have shown to me personally, I am

In the hope of our Victory,

Max Shulman [signed]
Chairman 19th Ward.
