Biographical Text

Frank Addison Manny was a progressive educator who worked in the Midwest and Eastern states. He trained at the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago under John Dewey. Manny was head of the Wisconsin Normal School in Oshkosh (1898-1900), superintendent of the Felix Adler School of Ethical Culture in New York City (1900-1907), head of the Western State Normal School in Kalamazoo (1908-1910), and the director of teacher training in Baltimore (1911-1915). Among his interests were education for working men, malnutrition, woman suffrage and genealogy.

He married Annette Sawyer in 1904, but they had no children. He died in 1954.
