July 24, 1916.

My dear Mr. Sedgwick:

May I thank you for your great kindness in publishing the article in October, and for your suggestion that I send something to The Atlantic next year. I had made some notes on Americanism but the subject was so well set forth by Randolph Bourne in your July number that I can only congratulate you upon its publication. May I write you next year if I have any suitable material and thank you again for your courtesy in regard to "The Devil Baby."

Very sincerely yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Ellery Sedgwick, Esq.,
Editor, The Atlantic.
