My dear Alice
The [bills] at Toby's are all straightened out at last, thank you very much for the checks. I did not go to Rockford last week, owing to a perfect congestion of things here but hope to go out to Miss Sutliff's inauguration next Sat.
All the accounts I have of Marcet are most favorable but I know her dear mother must suffer horribly from loneliness. With my [best] love to [you] always your loving sister
J.A.
